Hay-on-Wye will be on our screens next week in a BBC One Wales series taking a look at the best food events across the country.

Food Fest Wales is a brand new five-part series which sees Countryfile presenter Sean Fletcher travelling across Wales to festivals and markets to discover the best produce in Wales.

Helping Sean on his journey and revealing just how much effort goes into getting food onto our tables are his co-presenters Welsh Italian chef and cookery writer Michaela Chiappa, businessman and broadcaster Onkar Singh Purewal and S4C’s Ffermio presenter Meinir Howells.

In next week's episode, Sean stops off in Hay-on-Wye. There's more than just books to be found - there’s plenty of food and produce available. Sean’s first stop is at the popular weekly market in Hay. He’s keen to sample the produce and speak to some of the producers there where he picks up some tips about growing vegetables from one of the regular stall owners.

Meanwhile, Onkar Singh Purewal heads to Cardigan home of a popular bakery whose speciality bread is sourdough, and Meinir Howells travels to Ruthin to visit a rapeseed farm to see how the flowers and seeds are turned into the rapeseed oil that you see in the shops.

This episode of Food Fest Wales airs on BBC One Wales on Monday, February 20 at 8.30pm.
