Families are being invited to discover Wales’ history this summer with a programme of events at Tretower Court and Castle.

Cadw has announced a packed schedule of activities taking place across Wales during the school holidays, with Tretower among the historic sites hosting family-friendly events.

Visitors to the Powys landmark can enjoy a range of medieval-themed activities, including Tretower’s Summer Trail, running every day from Saturday, July 18 until Monday, August 31, from 10am to 4:30pm.

The trail will see families explore the historic grounds while taking part in a series of medieval challenges.

Young visitors can also get creative during Wednesday Crafting Fun sessions throughout August. The workshops, held every Wednesday at 10:30am and 1:30pm, will allow children to make their own medieval-inspired items, including shields, swords and decorative keepsakes.

The site will also host a series of planetarium shows every Thursday in August, offering families the chance to explore the wonders of the night sky.

Led by the Usk Astronomical Society, the immersive experience will take visitors on a journey through the solar system and constellations. Shows will take place at 10:30am, 11:15am, midday, 1:15pm, 2pm and 2:45pm, with booking required.

Dr Kate Roberts, Chief Executive of Cadw, said: “Summer is the perfect time for families to step outside and explore Wales’ incredible heritage, and our events programme makes those visits even more memorable.

“Whether it’s stepping into the shoes of medieval characters, discovering ancient traditions or simply spending time together in remarkable settings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Plus, with free child entry for adult members, it’s a fantastic way to make lasting memories over the school holidays.”

Cadw is running more than 70 events across Wales during July and August.
