THE boss of a popular riverside tourist centre is planning to offer free refreshments when one of its main access routes is closed.

The Erwood Station Craft Centre is tucked away beside a disused railway line beneath the Erwood Bridge which connects the B4567 and B4594, to the main A470 Builth Wells to Brecon road.

But Powys County Council is closing Erwood Bridge to vehicles for up to a year from July for essential maintenance work. The Bridge will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians.

Michael Cunningham, the owner of the popular cafe and gallery, is planning to reward people who use public transport to get to the attraction with free refreshments.

The incentive is just one of a number of initiatives, including a Dance on the Bridge on Saturday, July 27, planned by Michael to overcome the bridge closure.

The bridge is scheduled to close after this July's Royal Welsh Show.
