More than 100 Powys residents are set to receive a one-off £100 payment from the county council to help with winter energy bills.
The funding, provided by the Welsh Government, is aimed at households with a disabled resident who are on low incomes. Letters will be sent to those the council believes are eligible, asking them to confirm or supply bank details so the payment can be made directly.
Cllr Matthew Dorrance, Powys County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Fairer Powys, said: “This payment is intended to help households with higher winter energy costs, reduce financial pressure, and ease stress, so if you are eligible and we contact you, please be assured this is a genuine request to supply or confirm your bank details.
“We want to help you access every bit of support that is available.”
Recipients are being identified using Council Tax records, including those already receiving discounts through the Council Tax Reduction Scheme or the Disabled Band Reduction. There are no restrictions on how the £100 payment can be spent.
