The family of a 32-year-old man from Builth Wells who died in a collision on the A470 have paid tribute to a “kind-hearted, loving and remarkable young man”.
Nicholas Aaron Richards, affectionately known as Aaron or Archie, died on the evening of Saturday, August 3 following a collision involving his car on the A470 near Llyswen. His beloved dog, Merlin, also died.
His family said Aaron had a “warm, friendly and infectious personality” and that his kindness and “huge heart” had made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
In a tribute, they said: “Aaron was a wonderful young man who was loved by so many people. He had a warm, friendly and infectious personality, and his kindness and huge heart made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
“He lived a full and happy life during his 32 years and had achieved so much, but it felt as though he was only just getting started. He had so much to look forward to, making his loss all the more heartbreaking.”
Aaron was an extremely skilled carpenter who took great pride in his work and had been looking forward to starting a new job.
His family said he loved spending time with friends, having a pint and enjoying a game of pool.
“These simple moments brought him so much happiness, and he was always happiest when surrounded by the people he cared about,” they said.
His family said: “He was a devoted son, grandson and brother, as well as a much-loved friend. His beloved dog, Merlin, was a special part of his life, and it is heartbreaking that they have both been taken from us.
“There was only one Aaron. We will miss his laugh, his smile, his bear hugs and his huge personality every day. The pain of losing him is impossible to put into words, and our lives will never be the same without him.”
Aaron leaves behind his mother, Josie, brother Alex, sister Megan, father Nick, stepmother Tina and brother Liam, alongside his wider family and many friends.
His family also thanked those who had sent messages of support and shared memories since his death.
They said: “The outpouring of messages, love, support and shared memories since Aaron’s death has shown just how many lives he touched.
“We are truly grateful to everyone who has reached out, shared their memories and offered their support. It brings us comfort to know how much he was loved and that so many people will carry a piece of him in their hearts.
“We ask that our family is given the privacy and space to grieve and come to terms with this devastating loss.
“Aaron will be missed beyond measure by his family and countless friends. We will carry him with us always and love him for the rest of our lives.
“Forever loved, always in our hearts.”
