Pontfaen YFC members have enjoyed an exceptionally busy and successful few weeks, celebrating achievements across a wide range of competitions at county level.

At the Brecknock Carcass Judging, members excelled in a highly competitive field.

In the Lamb Carcass Under 16, Seren Jones secured third place. In the Beef Carcass Under 16, Connie Hyde also achieved third place and went on to take an impressive second place overall in the Under 16 Carcass Judging. In the Under 18 Beef Carcass section, Ollie Davies gained second place.

Pontfaen members continued their success at the County Stockjudging. Connie Hyde placed second in Dairy Judging and third in Animal Health and was awarded the Robert Davies Trophy for achieving the most points in the 16-and-under category.

The club also shone at the Annual Achievement Day, held recently at the Royal Welsh Showground, where several members earned top awards and will now go on to represent Brecknock at Welsh level.

Ollie Davies won the Chicken Jointing competition and will now compete at the Winter Fair. The Show Choir claimed first place, earning a spot at the Wales YFC Speaking Day in March. The winning team included: Mollie Hughes, Sian Healey, Sioned Davies, Catherine Morris, Darcey Davies, Elin Woods, Lizzy Cavenagh, Alice Hyde, and Beth Thompson. The Cube Team - Sian Healey, Chloe Williams, Darren Allsop, Darcey Boulton and Henry Davies - have qualified for the Wales YFC Field Day in April.

Further notable results included: Senior Flowers – second place: Sian Healey, Tick Tock – second place: Mollie Hughes & Alice Hyde, Senior Situations Vacant – third place: Angharad Rees, Cooking Under 21 – third place: Ella Lewis & Eva Jones.

Pontfaen YFC also participated across many other events, including Junior Fencing, Reading, Cover Design, Fferm Factor, Chocolate Log, and Dancing. The group said it was fantastic to see so many members getting involved.
