The Llanddewi Tractor Run marked its 25th anniversary in style on Sunday, August 17, with a record entry of more than 30 tractors taking part.
The popular annual event began at the village Hall, where organisers displayed photos and newspaper cuttings from past runs to celebrate the milestone. This year’s proceeds will be donated to two chosen causes - Blood Bikes and the local Leg Club.
The convoy set off northwards from the village, climbing off-road up the Gaer to meet the Heartease road at the Mere House turn. From there, drivers wound their way along back roads, down the Rock Pitch to the Fron at Crossgates, before briefly joining the main road and turning left towards Abbey Cwm-Hir.
The procession then climbed the Clwyedog valley, stopping for a lunch break at the top of Cwmfaerdy Hill, where participants enjoyed sunshine and sweeping views.
After lunch, the route continued past Giants Grave, through Beddugre yard, and on to Camdwr Hill for a short pause, before retracing their path to the Mere House turn. From there, they headed back to Llanddewi via Cefncunfoel top, passing the hypnotic windmill.
By 4pm all tractors had returned safely to the village with no breakdowns reported - a fitting end to a day described by organisers as a great success.
Blood Bikes Wales is a 100 per cent volunteer charity based in Wales, providing completely free courier service to the NHS, delivering blood samples, plasma, donated human milk, documents and other items all over Wales.
A Leg Club is a community clinic that helps people with leg problems such as ulcers or circulation issues. Treatment is given by nurses in a friendly, social setting rather than a formal medical one. The idea is to combine good care with a sense of community and support.
