The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) has announced it will take over management of the SV Arena for the 2026 Royal Welsh Show, following the death of its director.

The SV Arena - formerly known as the Young People’s Village - was established in 2023 by Aled Woosnam, founder of Powys-based Severn Valley Events, and provided a dedicated campsite and entertainment area for young people and families attending the show.

In a tribute, RWAS Chief Executive Aled Rhys Jones said: “Aled played a pivotal role in establishing the SV Arena in 2023. In doing so, he ensured that young people and families who visited the Royal Welsh had a safe and welcoming campsite and entertainment area. Aled will be sorely missed, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

Following Mr Woosnam’s death, Severn Valley Events confirmed the closure of the SV Arena. However, the Society said it recognised the continued need for a safe, welcoming and enjoyable camping venue for younger showgoers and families.

Mr Jones said: “We therefore announce hat we have reached an agreement with the Kinsey family - owners of Court Farm where the SV Arena was located - to assume the management of this area for the 2026 Show.

“We will be working with experienced partners to deliver the campsite and entertainment complex.”

The RWAS has confirmed it will honour bookings made and paid for prior to the arena’s closure. Those affected will be contacted in the coming weeks, with further details to follow on how to secure pitches for 2026.

Mr Jones added: “We respect that this development has occurred due to tragic circumstances. It is our intention to build on the good work of the past and safeguard the future.”

The 2026 Royal Welsh Show will take place from July 20 to July 23.
