A GROUP of friends are staging a series of fundraising events after one lost her baby just days after her birth. Baby Hope Livvy Chaplin was born six weeks prematurely to parents Amy Hope and Lloyd Chaplin, of Brecon, last summer at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny and was transferred to the Royal Gwent in Newport after complications set in but sadly died less than three days later. Now the couple's friends are holding a series of fundraising events around Brecon to support the neo-natal unit at the Newport hospital and mark what would have been Hope Livvy's first birthday on August 11. "When I talked with friends earlier this year about the idea of marking Hope Livvy's birthday and raising funds with the hospital at the same time, they literally sprung into action and have been busy with getting everything organised ever since," said 27-year-old Amy. Events include a Mediterranean barbecue Roberto's Italian Restaurant in Brecon on Sunday, August 3 and a family fun day at the Clarence Inn, Brecon on Sunday, August 16 from 2pm to 5pm, followed by evening entertainment.
