The Old Railway Line Garden Centre has raised £1,028.20 for The Bracken Trust following its latest charity bingo night.

The event, held on Friday, August 28, brought customers and the community together for an evening of bingo, food and fundraising at the garden centre in Three Cocks, between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye.

The money will support The Bracken Trust, which is The Old Railway Line’s Charity of the Year for 2026.

Based in Llandrindod Wells, the charity supports people affected by cancer across Powys, including patients, families, carers and bereaved relatives.

Joe Aldworth, marketing director at The Old Railway Line Garden Centre, said he was delighted with the amount raised.

“These evenings are always great fun, but what makes them special is seeing so many people come along and get behind such a brilliant local charity,” he said.

He thanked everyone who attended, bought raffle tickets and helped make the evening a success, as well as Darren, who volunteered to call the numbers.

The bingo night is part of the garden centre’s wider fundraising for the charity.

The garden centre is running its Grand Charity Raffle, with more than £5,000 worth of prizes available. More than £3,500 has already been raised from ticket sales, with all proceeds going to The Bracken Trust.

Mr Aldworth said: “The response to our Grand Raffle has been amazing too. To have already raised more than £3,500 from ticket sales is fantastic, and there’s still time for people to get involved.”

The Bracken Trust offers information, advice, counselling, complementary therapies and emotional support to people affected by cancer.

Its services are available to individuals from diagnosis through treatment and beyond, as well as their families and carers.

The raffle remains open, with prizes donated by the garden centre and suppliers.
