A CONVIVIAL week of walking was enjoyed by the Four Wells Ramblers and their ‘Like to Hike’ visitors from Europe. Based in Llandrindod Wells, the visitors were introduced to the local walk leaders during a meal at Sugar and Spice where the volume of chatter set the scene for the days that followed.

The walking started with a strenuous day in the Brecon Beacons taking in Cefn-y-Brin, Twyn Du and the Brecon and Monmouth Canal. Poor weather on the second day split the group in two with one party heading from Garth for the view point on the Epynt whilst the rest explored sections of the Irthon; both groups returning to a BBQ in Garth Community Centre.

The coastal path between Llanrhystud and Aberystwyth reunited the groups on the Monday. Tuesday was a rest day with many of the visitors exploring Powis Castle before joining a skittles evening at the British Legion which raised over £30 for charity.

On Wednesday we joined the Llandrindod Wells Mid-week walkers for their regular Wednesday walk; this time a linear walk over Llandegley Rocks and through Bailey-Einon nature reserve finishing in the café at the Lake.

On their final day we circumnavigated Garreg-ddu Reservoir after visiting a secret waterfall and the lead and zinc mines.

An excellent dinner at the Metropole rounded off the visit during which many new friends were made and future contacts discussed.
