Hay Pride is running for its second year next month at Hay Castle and the Globe at Hay.

Following the huge success of the inaugural event in 2022, the Hay Pride team returns on Saturday, June 17 with added fun and entertainment from and for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

This year’s Hay Pride theme is 'Nature is Queer', promoting the rural nature of Hay-on-Wye and highlighting the many other species in nature which are part of the LGBTQ+ family.

Local drag performers and queer artists will perform throughout the day at Hay Castle (free admission) followed by an evening of queer cabaret, 6pm - 1am at The Globe at Hay (ticketed event).

The popular dog show in the grounds of Hay castle - a highlight of the day for many at the 2022 event - also returns for a second year.

Graham Nolan, Hay Pride Director, said:  ‘‘We are all so excited to host Hay’s second Pride event.

"We were blown away by the support we received for the event from the Hay community last year.

"It's such a great opportunity for people from the LGBTQ+ community to get together and celebrate their uniqueness and differences.

"Being queer in a rural community can often mean you are isolated from others like you.

"Pride gives people a real sense of belonging with their peers. The day is about making and meeting new friends and chosen family.

"It’s really important for us at Hay pride to celebrate our location in some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. So our theme this year is 'Nature is Queer’.

"Nature in all its many forms shows such a beautiful spectrum of diversity, much like our queer community, there is a little bit of everything."
