A new defibrillator has been installed at a popular walking spot in the Black Mountains.
The life-saving devide was installed recently at Dinas Castle Inn, Pengenffordd.
Julie and Ray Briggs, landlords at Dinas Castle Inn, have supported the installation enthusiastically and are providing a power source to keep the device charged up at all times.
The Dinas Castle Inn car park has become a firm favourite with walkers and other mountain lovers for the routes it offers towards the Dragon’s Back and Mynydd Troed.
This initiative has been led by the Talgarth Walking Festival team, who are again offering an extensive programme of events over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of April and into May at this years’ Festival.
Talgarth Town Council is also playing its part, supporting the defibrillator roll out by hosting a series of training events for this and other defibrillators in the Talgarth area, delivered by Zoe Argent of St Johns.
Dr Havard Prosser, Chair of Talgarth Walking Festival, said: “We are ple
ased to have been able to support this new installation and hope it will provide an important safety resource for walkers, local residents and others who enjoy the Black Mountains”.
Local County Councillor, William Powell (Welsh Liberal Democrat, Talgarth), added: ‘’This is such a welcome partnership, between Talgarth Walking Festival and the Dinas Castle Inn. 2023 is the year when both will emerge fully after the years of Covid lockdown and I salute them both for providing this lifesaving equipment to mark their comeback.’’
