An Aberedw woman is set to run her own half marathon this week to raise money for a Powys-based cancer charity.

Helen Tuite will run the half marathon on Friday, April 25 around the parkrun route at The Groe.

This is to raise money for The Bracken Trust.

"I've run half marathons before, but a long time ago, so I wanted to set myself a challenge as it's a milestone birthday this year," explained Helen.

"I think I'm proof that you're never too old to kick-start your fitness!

"I've been training for it since the beginning of the year, but it's been tough, as I'm no spring chicken.

"As it’s not an organised event, my friends Trish, Amanda and Martin will be there to verify I complete all 13.1 miles!”

Helen added: "My late mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, which is why I chose The Bracken Trust, as they provide practical, physical and emotional support to those people and their families affected by cancer."
