Free help for people struggling to get online due to the region’s slow broadband is to be available in Brecon and Radnorshire.

Consumer group Which? is launching its Fix Bad Broadband campaign by visiting the area.

Which? says average download speed locally is just 10.1mb a second much slower than industry regulator Ofcom’s estimated national average of 36.2mb/s.

The roadshow events will be held at the Talybont Outdoor Centre from 9.30am to 11.30am, Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon, from midday to 3pm, and at the Knighton Community Centre from 4pm to 6pm on Tuesday, June 27.

People can get free face-to-face advice on their broadband service, help to find out their actual speed by using the Which? speed checker and complain to their provider if they’re not getting the speed they were promised using a free complaints tool.

Alex Neill, Which? managing director of home products and services, said: "We know that the broadband service many people experience across the UK can vary wildly depending on where they live. Our team will be on hand in Brecon and Radnorshire to show people how they use our free speed check and help us in our campaign to fix bad broadband.

“We want to expose the real broadband speeds that people are getting across the country and help improve people’s connections."
