This is the latest advice from health boards regarding hospital visits, including any restrictions.

Wye Valley NHS Trust has announced on Monday, March 23 all hospitals across Herefordshire, including Hereford County Hospital are stopping all visitors from Tuesday, March 24.

Aneurin Bevan Health Board (Nevill Hall, Abergavenny)

Restricted visiting on all wards and patient areas until further notice.

Visits are limited to one nominated essential visitor per patient (including child-in patients).

Usual visiting hours are now restricted to one hour a day, you will be advised by ward staff of visiting times.

No children under 12 are to visit.

Use hand gel on entering and leaving the ward. Wash your hands thoroughly before, during and after visiting.

Do not enter to building if you are unwell and have a high temperature, or a new continuous cough.

Cardiff & Vale University Health Board (University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff)

We would ask relatives of individuals with suspected or confirmed symptoms of COVID-19 not to visit at this time. The family, friends and children of these patients will not be allowed onto the wards as visitors.

Patients coming to our Emergency and Assessment Unit should note that only one relative per patient (adult or child) will be permitted to enter.

If anyone in your family has a high temperature and a new continuous cough, even if it’s mild, stay at home.

Cwm Taf Health Board (Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil)

Visitors are asked not to visit any of our sites if they have a high temperature, a new and persistent cough, have returned from overseas travel in the last 2 weeks, are vulnerable as a result of chronic illness or medication or are over 70 years of age.

If you do need to visit, please your hands thoroughly and use the hand sanitisers at the entrance to every ward.

Our visiting policy is now:

On wards, one person will be allowed to visit between 3-4pm and 7-8pm only. There will be no visiting outside these times.

Visitors must be immediate family members or carers

No children under 18 will be allowed to visit

No visitors will be allowed to visit a patient with confirmed coronavirus.

Exceptions will apply if:

The patient is receiving end-of-life care (visiting to be agreed with clinical team).

They are a partner of birthing partner accompanying a woman in later (one person but for limited time based on agreement with clinical team.

Paediatrics and neonatal areas (one person only for open visiting as per local agreement.

Aligned with this change, canteens one each site will become staff only, however our coffee shops will stay open to all.

Hywel Da Health Board (Glangwili General Hospital)

Visiting in all acute and community hospitals is being restricted.

Visiting principles currently are:

Strictly no visitors with symptoms of any infections illness (cold, cough, temperature, diarrhoea and/or vomiting.

No visiting to multiple patients across the hospital site.

No children to visit (unless in the circumstance of end-of-life care).

Only one visitor per patient, recommended to be their main carer if possible (this also applies to paediatric and maternity areas).

Visits to be kept to 15 minutes (paediatrics and maternity will be assessed by ward nurse/midwife in charge).

Only one parent at a time to visit their child (no extended family without specific agreement).

For birthing mothers, only one birthing partner.

Powys Teaching Health Board

Please do not visit hospital if you meet the criteria for self-isolation for coronavirus (COVID-19) or if you have had flu or diarrhoea & vomiting symptoms within the last 24 hours.

For the foreseeable future we are asking that just one birth partner who feels well joins for your Powys birth.

Otherwise, we have not made any changes to hospital visiting arrangements but we are keeping this under review.

Swansea Bay University Health Board (Morriston Hospital, Swansea)

Temporary visiting restrictions are as follows:

Visiting only between 3pm and 4pm.

Only one visitor at a time.

No children.

Only one parent or carer per child patient.

No visitors for any patients who are suspected of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

These rules may be relaxed for palliative care patients.

Do not visit if you are unwell with flu-like symptoms including a high temperature, or have been in contact with others who have displayed symptoms, or who have returned from high risk countries.
