Huntington saw a near-record turnout for the annual Huntington Chase, as walkers, runners, horse riders, and mountain bikers took on the 11-kilometre course over road, track, and hill.
First held in 2008, the event has grown into a local favourite, attracting competitors of all ages and abilities.
Mountain biker Rob Davies led the field early as he tackled Hergest Ridge, but on the long ascent to the trig point he was overtaken by Becky Pugh riding Megazord. With wild ponies grazing the hill and a tricky descent down the stony Broken Bank, Rob managed to reclaim the lead and cross the finish line at Huntington Village Hall, narrowly ahead of Becky.
Among the runners, Talfryn Carter set a personal best of 51 minutes, taking first place overall. On the women’s side, Kaz Miles and Sarah Rees claimed line honours on two wheels and two legs, respectively.

The event also celebrated walkers and participants in creative fancy dress, with original costumes adding to the festive atmosphere. Organisers extended their thanks to volunteers, marshals, the soup and sandwich team, photographers, website managers, musicians, and Jane at the Swan, whose support was essential to the day’s success.
Generous sponsorship from SW Maddy, raffle contributions from Grapevine, No 25 Delicatessen, Paul Lewis Butcher, and the Co-op, alongside entry fees and donations, helped raise £1,455. Of this, £1,000 will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, with the remainder going to Huntington Church.
