A POWYS family claim to have spotted a 'big cat' creature similar to that of the infamous Beasts of Bodmin and Exmoor.

The creature, which was described as black, 'cheetah-size' and with a long black tail, was seen near the border village of Clifford, close to Hay-on-Wye, over the weekend of August 6 and 7.

David Parry was on a trip out with his young grandchildren on Saturday, August 6, when he encountered what he said was 'obviously a big cat'.

Mr Parry, 65, was taking his grandchildren from Llanfrynach, near Brecon, to meet their father who had been canoeing in the Clifford area.

He told The Brecon & Radnor Express: "You hear every so often of big cat sightings but most seem to be at night, yet this was at around 11am in the morning, in broad daylight."
