LATEST plans for the £8.2 million redevelopment of the Brecknock Museum have been unveiled.

The project will see a new library built in Brecon town centre alongside the grade II listed 1842 Shire Hall on land currently occupied by a disused council office.

Powys County Council, which has been awarded £2.5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund for the redevelopment of the museum and art gallery is calling the project the 'Cultural Hub'.

Designs for the library show a large glass fronted building with a pointed rectangular style upper cladding. Its main entrance will be on Captain's Walk, looking towards Theatr Brycheiniog.

The redevelopment of the museum will also see it original Assize Court and underground cells restored as a visitor attraction.

The plans are also currently on show at the existing Brecon Library until Friday, March 28.
