A group of enthusiastic tap dancers of all ages came together in Llandrindod Wells recently to raise money for charity and join an attempt to break a 20-year-old world record.

24 dancers met in The Dance Centre last Sunday to perform as part of The Performer’s Project annual Tapathon, organised to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

Anyone could sign up to learn the routines, which included one for beginners and a more advanced version - both mind-bogglingly performed simultaneously to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”. During this dance, the group attempted to break the world record for the “largest tap dance in multiple venues” which has stood at 7596 since 2002.

Impelo practitioner Carolyn Keown said: “It was great to see everybody smiling, and was a lovely chance for people to socialise and dance together on a cold rainy day, all for a good cause.

“It was also great to see some new faces coming to learn the routines and we look forward to submitting our numbers to the Tapathon HQ”.

This is the first year the Tapathon has run since the pandemic.
