Essential works to the level crossing in Llandrindod Wells will take place from 7am on Saturday 17 October to 8pm on Sunday 18 October.

As part of Network Rail’s plans to maintain a safe and reliable railway, the works will result in the level crossing on the junction of the A4081 and the A483, being closed to vehicles for the duration they are on site. A diversion route will be fully signposted throughout the road closure.

Supervised access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained.

"Maintaining good public transport links within the county is vital" says Cllr Heulwen Hulme, Cabinet Member of Highways. "But ensuring they continue to run safely and reliable will always mean that occasionally maintenance work needs to take place.

"We would like to thank the residents of Llandrindod Wells for their patience and cooperation whilst Network Rail carry out these works on the level crossing this coming weekend."

Heavy goods vehicles and power tools will be used during the weekend, so some disturbance is unavoidable. However, Network Rail will make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise with those on site briefed on working responsibly in the local community.

Following this weekend, Network Rail is planning to carry out some more work on the level crossing from 3 to 14 December. Details of the road closure will be published nearer the time.

Hannah McCarthy, communications manager for Network Rail, said: "Level crossings have to be renewed from time to time to make sure they remain safe for passengers and local communities to use.

"We’re sorry for any disruption our work on the level crossing in Llandrindod Wells may cause. I’d like to thank the local community for bearing with us while we carry out this important work."
