Llanwrtyd Wells Walking Club will honour the memory of Lt. Col. The Lord Crawshaw of Aintree O.B.E., T.D., D.L., with a special memorial walk on Saturday, February 7.

A great friend of the club and an avid walker himself, Lord Crawshaw was a past President of the Long Distance Walking Association and set a world non-stop walking record of 255.8 miles in 1972. The walk recognises his lifelong contribution to walking in Wales and celebrates his enduring legacy in the sport.

As part of the club’s Annual Challenge Walks Programme, participants can choose from three self-guided routes of 8, 12, or 20 miles. Routes are available online via OS Maps, with GPX files provided, and a paper map will be supplied at registration. Walkers are advised to wear winter clothing and carry survival gear due to the time of year and conditions.

Entry costs £11 in advance, with online registration closing seven days before the event, or £13 on the day. The walk is non-competitive, making it suitable for walkers of all abilities, and also serves as a qualifying event for the award scheme promoted by the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV) through the British Walking Federation.
