Intrepid Martin Jackson is taking on a charity challenge in memory of his friend who died from melanoma.
Father-of-two Lee Cave, who was the head of an outdoor education centre near the Brecon Beacons and spent his life inspiring young people in the great outdoors, was just 40 when he died at new year.
Now Martin is tackling The Big Black Mountains Challenge which is aimed at raising money for the mountain rescue team. The challenge involves a 30-mile run/walk over the Black Mountains near Abergavenny and the run goes from the valley floor to the 810m summit several times.
Martin said: "was so passionate about outdoor adventures and the benefits they can offer people, he truly was an inspiration. I am an outdoor education instructor working in the Brecon Beacons and have been here for around 15 years. Lee helped to teach and train me up and continued to support me throughout my whole career.
"I have so far raised around £800 towards my target of £1000 which is going to Melanoma UK (http://www.melanomauk.org.uk/)."
The funds will help to support patients diagnosed with melanoma and their families as well as to provide melanoma nurses and to fund important research.
If you would like to sponsor Martin, he has a justgiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/Martin-Jackson17
