Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for a Fairer Powys, Matthew Dorrance, has confirmed he will not be standing for election to the Senedd.

His name had appeared on a Welsh Labour candidate list for Pontypridd Cynon Merthyr which was shared online, alongside others including Vikki Howells, Mustapha Maohoub, and Jane Gebbie, sparking questions over whether he intended to stand there rather than potentially in Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd.

Speaking to the Brecon and Radnor Express, Mr Dorrance said: “I’m not running for the Senedd and I’ve been in touch with Welsh Labour to resolve this.

“The Labour ballot for Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd is still open and members are voting. I’m not a candidate for it. I will be supporting the Labour candidates selected.”

Mr Dorrance cited personal reasons for not being a candidate.
