A DEADLINE for members of the public to have their say on a proposed primary school closure has been extended.

A formal consultation on plans to close Nantmel Primary School opened on January 29 and was due to close last Friday, March 11.

However the council has now extended the consultation until Friday, April 22.

The council said the extension is "to make sure that all interested parties have an opportunity to take part in the exercise."

A public meeting has already been held in the school hall allowing parents and the wider community the opportunity to let the council know their views on the proposal.

Residents have also been invited to respond to the consultation through the council’s website www.powys.gov.uk/haveyoursay or in writing to the council’s School Modernisation team, County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 5LG or email [email protected]

The formal consultation follows a decision by the council’s cabinet in December to consult on a proposal to close the primary school.
