James Evans MS has visited two Shaw Healthcare Homes - pictured above and right - Cartref in Hay-on-Wye and Trenweydd in Brecon.
The visits were organised to show James, who is the Shadow Minister for Mental Health the role the care homes play within the local community and the service they provide to their patients.
The care homes held events to recognise the extremely hard work conducted over the past 18 months during the Covid pandemic..
James Evans MS, who offered his “personal gratitude” to carers who look after some of the most vulnerable people in society, said:: “It was an honour to attend the celebration events at the two Shaw Trust Care homes in Brecon and Hay on Wye.
“Those working in the care sector provide a special service to the people of this country and work in extremely challenging conditions. The Covid crisis put care workers under even more difficult conditions and they did their best to ensure they kept patients safe.
“These care homes play an important role in their towns as employers and as places of sanctuary to many elderly people in need of 24 hour care.
“My personal gratitude goes to those looking after some of the most vulnerable in our society.”
Correction: In our original story we said that the two care homes belonged to The Shaw Trust. This is incorrect and they in fact belong to Shaw Healthcare. We are sorry for any confusion.
