Dexter’s Groom Room, a brand-new dog grooming salon, has recently opened in Brecon, offering one-to-one appointments for dogs in the local area.

The business is owned and run by fully insured and qualified dog groomer Lisa Viola, who moved to Brecon last summer.

Lisa and her husband Pete previously lived in Portsmouth where Lisa ran Dexters Groom Room, named after their now 12-year-old dog, Dexter.

Due to Pete’s job in Llandrindod Wells, the couple decided to relocate to Brecon and after spending some time away from her passion, Lisa has now reopened Dexter’s Groom Room in a new location on The Struet.

After spending a long time searching for a premises, the salon opened on Monday, May 12.

Upon opening the salon, Lisa told the Brecon & Radnor Express: “I’m glad to get back to grooming. I used to be an accountant and when we moved to the area I got a job in accounts in Ebbw Vale but always wanted to come back to grooming.

“We saw this shop come up and that was that.”

Speaking about Brecon, Lisa said: “I’ve had a great response so far. The town is lovely - it’s got a real community feel and everyone’s so friendly.”

Lisa, accompanied by Dexter in the salon, offers professional and friendly one-to-one appointments for full grooms, clips, de-sheds, and puppy intros using a high standard of equipment.

“I do one-to-one appointments, so it’s one dog in the salon at a time,” said Lisa.

“They seem to prefer it and if they’re a bit anxious they find it more comfortable.”

“It’s nice and calm in here with just me and Dexter usually in his pen,” she said.
