A NEW shop and hub opened in Brecon last month which will help to support and raise money for a Powys carers charity.

Credu Brecon, which is seed funded by the Triangle Trust, was opened on Brecon High Street by the Brecon and Radnorshire AM Kirsty Williams on Saturday, March 17.

The aim of the shop and hub is to support both young and adult carers in the community as well as to provide an informal place for local carers to come together.

Nic Prosser, who manages the Brecon shop, has said they want to thank everybody who supported them and the Brecon community for their “generous donations” as well as giving their “valuable time” to volunteer in the shop.

The CEO of the Powys-based charity Jen O’Hara said: “Young carers and adult carers can be invisible, yet all around us people of all ages are looking after someone in their family who is ill or disabled.

“As rewarding as caring can be, it is often the hardest and loneliest thing anyone can do and it has a major impact on health and life chances.

“The Credu Shop and Hub is about supporting young and adult carers as well as giving the community of Brecon an informal place to come together in a way that can be sustained through retail income.”

Funds raised by Credu Brecon will help support carers of all ages – anybody who wants to get involved should either visit the Brecon store or call them on 01874 622807.
