GROUPS opposing the Brecon Beacons National Park's long term planning document have disputed the need for an additional 200 new homes in the protected area.
They outlined their objections at the final public hearing session to examine the Local Development Plan (LDP), which identifies land suitable for development between now and 2022.
The six hour hearing session, at Brecon's Castle Hotel on Thursday, September 5, heard claims the inquiry was paying 'lip service' to public consultation.
In June, park members agreed to add land at the Meadows in Hay-On-Wye and Llangenny Lane, Crickhowell as well as the former Mid Wales Hospital in Talgarth and the disused Cwrt y Gollen Army Camp at Glangrwyney near Crickhowell to the LDP, after being ordered to find land for 200 extra homes by independent planning inspector Rebecca Phillips back in April.
The park then ran a six week consultation on the sites that had been excluded from the original draft LDP.
