Residents in Llandrindod Wells are being encouraged to voice their opinions on how the new skate park should look.

Llandrindod Wells Town Council announced in August last year that it had secured land from Powys County Council to build the new skating facility at Prince’s Avenue.

The transfer of land, which is located near Llandrindod Lake, had been delayed for many months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the new skate park has been ‘constantly pushed forward’ by Llandrindod town councillor and former mayor Cllr Steve Seeks D’Silva.

There has been a push for a skate park in the town for a few years, including from groups such as Dod Town Xtreme, Llandrindod Ready to Roll and former town councillor and managing director of Llandrindod Well’s Grand Pavillion Jase Hawker who helped to champion the project and it fundraising.

Described by the town council as an “exciting project”, the local authority signed a 25-year-lease for the park and it currently in the process of looking to attract grant money to help the project.

The town council made an announcement last week on its social media to ask residents to voice their views on the park.

It said: “Llandrindod Wells Town Council have teamed up with Resources for Change to develop a new skatepark in Llandrindod.  To do this we need to hear from you, the ones who will be using it!!

“If you could take a couple of minutes to fill in this survey you can tell us what you want, have your say on what it looks like, and help us get the funding to build it!!

“Please share with your friends and families.  The more responses we get the better chance we have of making it happen.”
