LIBRARIES in Powys could see a cut in their opening hours if the county council agrees a cost cutting plan.

Powys County Council's cabinet is being asked to support a recommendation to keep libraries open but to reduce their opening hours by 20 per cent when it meets at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells next Tuesday, October 21.

As well as reducing opening hours at libraries across the county, the council also intents to reduce the operation of the mobile library, which visits some of Powys' most remote and rural communities.

Some existing library buildings could close and move into other council owned or community buildings.
