Mark Anthony Harding, also known as ‘Tiny’ to all who knew him, sadly passed away peacefully surrounded by his whole family on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, at the Llewellyn ward, Bronllys Hospital after a very brave public battle with prostate cancer.

Tiny was a much loved fiancé to Denise, Father to Teriellen, Sadie, Shauna, Kelly, Kyle and brother to Martyn, Jayne and Shaun. He was an uncle, a friend, a colleague, a former football manager/coach and an outstanding member of the local community.

Tiny bravely and openly shared his journey with prostate cancer from the start right the way through to raise awareness and encourage others to get tested and help prevent his own story become someone else's. From his diagnosis in September 2024 he documented his journey, even during the time he was having treatment via chemotherapy which was given to extend his time left with his family.

His heart attacks that resulted in having surgery to have stints placed, further radiotherapy treatments for pain management and the hospital stays came in the process of his cancer. Through the good, the bad and the ugly he didn't shy away in raising awareness. Tiny’s fundraising efforts began with the help of his friend and neighbour Leanne Morris who helped him to kickstart his campaign to raise funds and awareness for Prostrate Cancer UK on October 20, 2024. Along the way, Tiny has seen charity bingo nights, auctions, football matches, car wash events, sponsored walks and runs, big prize raffles and more held in his honour by local businesses such as The Old Railway Line Garden Centre, Talgarth Town Football Club, Hay St Marys Football Club, Riverside International, Talgarth Male Voice Choir and Talgarth chip shop, just to name a few, all to help raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. With help from his friends, local businesses and the surrounding community, the total amount raised whilst Tiny was alive reached just over £17,024 and continues to climb as fundraising in his honour continues.

One of his proudest moments throughout his fundraising journey was receiving the Prostate Cancer UK logo tattoo, done on December 18, 2024. The tattoo was done at no cost by John Sheppard of Twinkles & Ink Studio in Crickhowell, with the cause and charity being close to his own heart having lost his own father to prostate cancer.

Tiny’s fundraising hasn't just seen money being raised, but seen awareness raised with PSA testing pop-up events taking place and men coming forward to get themselves checked, with one of his own brothers being diagnosed and treated for the disease and currently doing well.

Since his sad passing, Tiny has been widely observed throughout many grassroots football matches throughout South Powys, with many teams opting to take a one minute applause prior to kick off in his honour. His own club did just that before kick-off at this Saturday’s match, which saw Talgarth progress to the semi-finals. A heartfelt tribute was read out by Rob Gunning in Tiny’s honour followed by a minute applause as 'You’ll Never Walk Alone' rang across the ground. It was a moment that perfectly reflected the man himself - emotional, but full of unity, warmth, and respect. Just as he would have wanted, it was about celebrating his life and everything he gave to the club and the game.

A spokesperson for Talgarth Football Club said: “Grassroots football was his life. He gave everything - as a player, a coach, a manager and above all, as a friend. He brought people together. Whether it was on the touchline or in the bar watching Liverpool, he was someone everyone warmed to instantly. He gave everything to this club, and Talgarth were incredibly lucky to have him. He will forever be a legend here. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

“His legacy will live on - not just in what he achieved on the pitch, but in the incredible work he did raising awareness for prostate cancer. It was nothing short of remarkable. And now, with the club bar proudly named Tiny’s Bar, every time we walk in, every time we share a drink, we should remember him - and carry on his message: keep raising awareness, keep looking out for one another, and keep supporting grassroots football. Tiny - thank you - you’ll never walk alone.”

Funeral Arrangements for Mark “Tiny” Harding: There will be a celebration of life for Mark “Tiny” Harding on Saturday, 11 April, at 3pm at St Gwendoline’s Church, Talgarth. As per Tiny’s wishes, there will be a “pre‐match” drink in his honour at Talgarth Football Club from 1:15pm. Everyone welcome.

Tiny will be sent from his club Talgarth Town Football Club with a guard of honour and walked up to the church by his family and squad. We kindly ask that anyone joining us for a drink first makes their way to the church before Tiny leaves the club, allowing his family and squad to travel safely on his final journey.

Tiny loved his football, so we kindly ask that anyone attending wears a football shirt, tie, scarf, or something red to help us give him the send‐off he deserves. Family flowers only, in leu of flowers, donations if so desired will be split between Prostrate Cancer UK and Talgarth Town Football Club. The family would like to thank all at Hereford Oncology, Haygarth medical centre, the District nursing team and Primrose pharmacy for their care and dedication to Tiny during his battle. As well as the local Macmillian nurses, the St David’s nurses and most heartfelt thank you to the nurses on the Llewellyn ward, Bronllys Hospital for making those final moments so peaceful for us all.

Finally in his own words of “beating that drum”... Gents please “Don’t be a Tiny, get tested” it’s a simple blood test and could save your life.

Other than that, “Cool beans and You’ll never walk alone!”
