Rhayader Male Voice Choir had the privilege of singing, once again, at the Royal Albert Hall on April 27, during A Festival of Massed Male Choirs.

They were in the company of almost 600 other wonderful voices from 24 choirs - including one choir all the way from Canada. This wasa glorious occasion that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The choirs were in fine voice encouraged by a truly ecstatic and appreciative audience.

The event is usually every three years. Covid delayed this event until 2024 and the choirs showed audiences that they were back to stay. The event was conducted by Dr Alwyn Humphreys MBE who, in his own ubiquitous style, ensured the very best from the singers.

There was a wide range of music from musicals, spirituals, opera and traditional Welsh songs. However ,the highlights must have been Kumbaya, which was sung with the most beautiful precision along with an audience participation of Calon Lan before a very tearful, rousing, World in Union.

The evening’s guests broadened the event with some truly outstanding performances.

Welsh cellist Stefan Morris was on hand to charm everyone with harmonies performed on a 300-year-old instrument along with the warm and graceful voice of Welsh tenor Osian Wyn Bowen and finally the lovely dulcet tones of Parti Llwchwr ladies choir conducted by Janet V Jones.
