Pancakes were flipped, raffles were drawn and the community came together in Llanwrtyd Wells as St James’ Church marked Shrove Tuesday last week with a well-attended lunch.
The Pancake Day event, organised by members of the Blaenau Irfon Benefice, brought residents through the doors to share food and conversation in the run-up to Lent.
Guests were treated to both savoury and sweet pancakes, freshly prepared and served by a team of volunteers including George and Chris Johnson, Tess Lister, and Otis and Matilda Phillips.
Alongside the food, a raffle was drawn, with prizes won by Richard Evans, Jean Spacy, Chris Greenough, Susan Price, Linda Hinchliffe, Heather Davis and Janet Croucher.
At the close of the event, George Johnson proposed a vote of thanks to all those who had helped organise and run the lunch, as well as to everyone who attended and supported it.
