What was the best way to rid your community of a troublesome spectre in eighteenth-century rural Radnorshire?

Why, shrink it down with Bible-reading, turn it into a fly, and bury it in a bog, of course! When an unscrupulous and unpopular tradesman died in an accident, the tiny community of Disserth wasn’t that bothered - until strange things began to happen…

Weaving together historic record, hearsay, and pure speculation, Builth Wells Community Arts have brought this intriguing tale to life in a comedy-drama, Fly By Night, to be performed at Wyeside Arts Centre on Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15. Last year, BWCAS worked with children from Newbridge CP and the artist Geraint Edwards from Celf o Gwmpas to construct the giant bluebottles now creating a buzz in the theatre foyer.

The production coincides with the end of around 700 years of worship in the unique Grade I listed parish church where the culmination of the story takes place. It will now be managed by the charity Friends of Friendless Churches.

Tickets cost £12, or £30 for a family of four. The Wyeside box office can be contacted on 01982 552555 or you can book via their website.
