Theatr Brycheiniog will be hosting the South Powys Youth Music Gala Concerts next week.

SPYM will be presenting its gala concert next Tuesday and Wednesday (March 15 and 16) as a celebration of youth music in Powys.

The concerts will be conducted by Tim Cronin who said: "We’ve been busy rehearsing the various ensembles since the start of term, during our regular Wednesday evening sessions at Brecon High School, and with the extra practices we’re running over the two weeks leading up to the concerts. We are excited about the performances from all involved."

There are around 150 children involved, from toddlers from the Shake Rattle & Roll group up to sixth formers in SPYO.

Tim said a lot of work had gone into rehearsals and "they’re a great bunch of youngsters to work with, having an inspiring energy and enthusiasm about them".

Tuesday will be kick started by the Shake Rattle and Roll Toddlers Music Session at 10 am, followed by Primary Strings at 2.15 pm, rounded off by the South Powys Youth Orchestra at 7pm.

Wednesday’s concert features the South Powys Junior Orchestra in the afternoon, followed by an evening of choir, Wind Band, String Machine, Stringtastic and Percussion Groups.

The daytime concerts are free for all to attend and tickets are available at the theatre for the evening concerts.
