Llandrindod Wells Town Council has warned residents to ignore a “parody” website falsely claiming to represent the authority, as it takes legal advice over the issue.

The website, published under a similar domain name to the council’s official site, was recently shared on social media, including the ‘Llandrindod Wells Chit Chat’ Facebook page.

In a statement, the council stressed that the site is “in no way related” to the authority and is neither authorised nor supported by it.

The warning comes amid claims the council, its members and staff have been subjected to trolling over the past 12 months by an individual described as holding a “vendetta and personal grudge”.

The council say they have previously sought legal advice over related matters, with complaints investigated - including one instance involving an independent investigator.

They added that dealing with the situation has already cost local taxpayers money, with further costs likely if the behaviour continues.

The council is now seeking further legal advice.

Residents are being urged to rely only on official sources for information and to disregard the imitation site. For official information, visit the legitimate council website at: www.llandrindodwellstowncouncil.co.uk
