A new study by Uswitch reveals which are the best destinations to completely drop off the grid.
From the moment we wake up, many of us are tapping at our mobile phones, swiping on smartwatches and staring at screens, connecting everything from our work to our love lives, fitness routines and food.
Sometimes it just feels tempting to turn it all off.
The study analysed the best locations to disconnect based on several factors including:
• Internet speed and connectivity
• Places to stay
• Things to do
• Travel time to the city
Brecon takes the top spot on the Uswitch list. Known for its stunning mountains and rolling moorlands, it is the perfect place to escape from the rest of the digital world.
The market town fended off stiff Scottish competition in the shape of the Orkney Islands and Argyll and Bute, to take top spot.
You will probably be quick to put your phone away in Brecon, not just because of the breathtaking scenery, but with an internet speed of 40.8Mbps, it’s below than the national average.
It represents the perfect opportunity to turn on the ’do not disturb’ feature. With over 500 places to stay and plenty of things to do, visitors won’t be itching to look at their phone or travel 53 minutes to the closest city.
Other Welsh entries in the top 10 were Swowdonia at number four and Ceredigion, which was placed eighth. The full study can be found here: https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/dropping-off-the-grid/
