An incredible convoy of tractors could be seen steaming around the country lanes, roads and hills surrounding Sennybridge recently in a bid to raise money for charity and in memory of a much-loved local man.
The hugely successful tractor run, held on October 2 in memory of Mervyn Prosser, was organised by his family to mark the first anniversary of his passing.
Mervyn was chairman of the Defynnog Vintage Society for many years and had organised and taken part in numerous tractor runs all over Britain.

It was a day Mervyn would have been extremely proud of, with his family, friends and neighbours coming together to make the day such a huge success.
People came from far and wide, across seas, borders and valleys to show their support and to remember and celebrate the larger-than-life character that he was.

There were almost 100 tractors, vintage, classic and modern, as well as whole families following in 4x4’s and cars. As Mervyn was a Fergie man it was only fitting the grey Fergies led the convoy on the day.
It was a true spectacle for the crowds of supporting on-lookers.
The procession of tractors departed from Sennybridge Livestock Market, embarking on a carefully selected route, which, not only had sentimental meaning to Mervyn and his family, but also offered the participants a chance to take in the wonderful views along the way, helped by the glorious sunshine on the day.

The run was followed by a BBQ and raffle back at the market, adding valuable proceeds to the funds raised.
The kindness and generosity of all who contributed allowed the family to proudly donate a phenomenal sum of £4020 to Diabetes UK Cymru.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated and to the rest of the community who turned out to show their support.
A massive thank you must go to Sennybridge YFC, Defynnog Vintage Society and to everyone who helped in making it a day to remember.
