In the spirit of community and remembrance, the Builth Wells Scout Group and local supporters adorned the Memory Tree at Co-op Builth store with heartfelt messages during December.

The tree served as a poignant space for individuals to pen messages to loved ones who are no longer with us.

The initiative allowed shoppers and community members to contribute not only their sentiments but also donations, if they wished, into a designated bucket beside the Memory Tree.

The collective effort raised a total of £233.

The funds collected from the Memory Tree initiative will be directed towards Barnardo’s, the national charity supported by Co-op.

Store manager Stuart Williams said: “Christmas is such a busy time for most people, so we thought it would be nice to remember those no longer with us. We are very grateful to all those who donated, as this will go to Barnardo’s, our national charity.

“We would also like to say a big thank you to Builth Wells Scout Group and Builth Wells Community Support who very kindly decorated the tree.”
