TRIBUTES have been paid to a community stalwart who died while preparing her garden for a church fundraising event. Julie Coade died in the garden of her home in Trallong, near Brecon, on Saturday afternoon, August 30. It is feared the 73-year-old had fallen from a ride on lawn mower while putting the finishing touches to her garden. It was due to feature as part of an open gardens event in the village the following day in aid of St David's Church where she was a member. Church warden Peter Thole said Mrs Coade, who was married to husband, Duncan had a 'heart of gold' and was involved in various fundraising and community activities. She had also been a community councillor in the village for 'many years' before stepping down last year. Councillor Cliff Phillips, chairman of Trallong Community Council, said: "Everyone is very shocked. She was a very well liked person in the community and had been a very loyal member of the council in the past. "Our greatest sympathy goes out to the family." Dyfed Powys Police said the coroner has been informed. For more on this story see this week's Brecon & Radnor Express - on sale now
