THE A479 trunk road in Powys is to close for 11 days for essential repair works to be carried out.
Powys council has issued a warning to motorist ahead of the closure which will come into force from 8am on Saturday, February 4.
The work, at Whitelow Farm, near Pengenffordd, is to replace a culvert following a landslide.
Contractors have started the repair works but they will require a full road closure in both directions for 11 days to carry out the works safely. The road will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians and is expected to reopen at 5pm on Tuesday, February 14.
During the road closure an official diversion route will be sign-posted to inform motorists of the closure.
Westbound traffic will be divert onto the A40 at Nant Ðy-Ffiyn towards Brecon then the A470 to Bronllys
Southbound traffic will be divert onto the A438 then A470 towards Brecon, then the A40 towards Crickhowell.
After the repair works at Whitelow Farm have finished, further essential works will also be carried out on the A479 between Tre-Walkin junction and Cwmdu. For safety reason, intermittent closure of discrete road sections will be required as works progress along the route.
