POLICE have until early tomorrow evening to question a teenager arrested on suspicion of murdering a man in Presteigne.

The 19-year-old man is being questioned in relation to the death of a 42-year-old local man, who was discovered with serious injuries, at Wents Meadowm behind Wilson Terrace, in the town early on Monday, August 19.

He appeared before a court in Newtown on Tuesday, August 20 when officers were granted a warrant of further detention.

Detectives now have until 6pm on Thursday, August 22 to question him.

Detective Inspector Diane Davies said police are still appealing for members of the public to come forward with information.

She said: "We are still very keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area on Sunday night or who may have been in the area early on Monday morning. I'd urge them to please contact the police on 101."

Dyfed Powys Police have also confirmed the man, who died late on Monday evening, at Hereford Hospital was local to the Presteigne area.

A postmortem is due to take place today (Wednesday).
