Andrew RT Davies MS, the Shadow Minister for Environment and Rural Affairs, is urging people in Wales to use water wisely.

He made his call as Welsh Water announced it had seen unprecedented usage over a three-day period last weekend, which coincided with the driest May on record.

Mr Davies said:“Look, many of us have enjoyed the sunshine and dry weather over the past few weeks, and although rain is forecast for tomorrow (Wednesday) and cooler temperatures for a while, this will do little to replenish the stocks in our reservoirs.

“The agricultural sector here in Wales has taken a hit because of this pandemic, and farmers, their livestock, and their crops need time to recover. Let’s not put additional pressure on them and reserves of water if we can help it.

“We can all go without washing our cars for a few weeks, we can use the water from paddling pools to water our gardens and flowers, and all the other little things that save such a precious resource.”
