To mark their debut season in the Gwent Central League and their recent promotion, Talgarth Town FC held a celebration and awards dinner on Friday, May 10, in Talgarth Town Hall with kind permission of Talgarth Town Council.

The guests of honour were recent stars of the Welsh national team Chris Gunter, former Wales international player and now a member of Rob Page's coaching team, and Matty Jones, who manages the Welsh Under-21 Squad.

The event was a resounding success with more than 80 people attending, including players, supporters, committee members, and members of Talgarth Town Football Club and Powys County Council. All sat down to enjoy a superb two- course meal provided by Piccadilly Caterers. The bar was provided by Leanne Morris and her fantastic team.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by renowned London-based compère, comedian and magician Mark Williams and an audience captivating question and answer session with Matty Jones and Chris Gunter.

Gunter played for Cardiff City, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Reading, and AFC Wimbledon in his career and made 109 appearances for the Welsh national team as a full back. He was a part of the Wales squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016 in France, after they beat Belgium 3-1 in the quarter-final stage.

Commenting on the event, Talgarth Town's Chair, Keith Parry, said: "It was a really positive culmination to our successful first season in the Gwent Central League. Thanks are due to many Club colleagues, far too many to mention.  "However, it was all made possible by our very own Football professional, Gareth Davies. His impeccable contacts in the football world made our stellar guestlist possible.  "All I would say to conclude is that it was a chance to celebrate with our wider footballing family in Talgarth, in a happy and relaxed atmosphere. To any doubters, it is also clear that Talgarth Town FC is very much 'back in the game.' "

Ex-Talgarth Town FC Juniors player, Harlan Perry was also celebrated for his achievement of being awarded with the Swansea City Under 16s Player of the Season Award.
