Organisers of the Llanbister Show have praised the fantastic turnout on Bank Holiday Monday, May 26, after wind and rain failed to dampen spirits at the popular event.
Despite challenging weather conditions – including strong gusts that destroyed two marquees in the run-up to the show – crowds gathered to enjoy a full programme of activities, many of which had to be relocated into remaining tents and even a horsebox.
Show organisers said the atmosphere remained upbeat throughout the day, thanks in part to lively performances from Llandrindod Silver Band and community music charity Music Anywhere. One of the highlights of the day was the ever-popular Quack Pack, which saw Runner ducks being herded by sheepdogs in the main arena.

Llandrindod’s Town Crier, Jan Swindale, braved the downpour to deliver a traditional welcome during the official opening ceremony, joined by Show President Reg Bowen.
A wide range of competitions went ahead as planned, including strong entries in the craft, produce, art and photography classes. Livestock sections – particularly the sheep, pig, and horse and jumping shows – also proved a major draw.
Visitors were also treated to face-painting, chainsaw carving demonstrations, and a well-stocked tea tent run by Cantal YFC, which offered a warm and dry spot for refreshments.
A raffle raised £281 for show funds, and the popular children’s athletics saw families competing together, showing no signs of being put off by the soggy conditions.

Organisers have since received a flood of positive feedback and thanked the community for their support.
