Care and Repair in Powys have welcomed a donation from the members of Llanyre Thursday Club, which will go to their Winter Warmer Hardship Fund to help their work with older people who need help to stay safe and warm in their homes.

Technical caseworker Debbie Brooks and administration assistant Vincent Brooks recently visited the society at the Church Hall in Llanyre following an invitation from their chairperson, Eileen Jones of Llandrindod Wells. The group has around 26 members with a current age range from 70 to 94 years. Debbie gave a talk at their February meeting on the services offered by Care and Repair and practical aids to stay safe at home such as grab rails and kettle tippers.

After the session, Eileen Jones presented Debbie Brooks with a donation of £25 which will go directly to older people in need of help from Care and Repair in Powys. The independent agency is funded by the Welsh Government and Powys County Council to help homeowners or private tenants aged over sixty with advice and support on benefits, heating their homes and repairs or adaptations that could prevent falls.

For more information on how Care and Repair in Powys could help yourself, a relative, friend or neighbour, please telephone the team on 01597 824040 or 0300 111 3333. Organisations wishing to enquire about caseworker talks are also welcome to contact them.
