Wales proudly stands as the world leader in safeguarding its dark sky landscapes, boasting the highest percentage of protected areas globally.

This distinction signifies the exceptional quality of starry nights and a pristine nocturnal environment that enchants visitors and the local community alike.

To date, more than 20 per cent of Wales has earned prestigious dark sky status, offering a unique opportunity to revel in the splendour of truly dark, star-studded nights -a luxury often elusive in the UK due to rampant man-made light pollution.

Dark Sky Landscapes across Wales will join together in celebration from February 9-18 for the third Welsh Dark Sky Week. This annual celebration invites everyone to take part in a series of captivating night events spread across the country.

Nestled within the Cambrian Mountains of Mid Wales, Penbont House in the Elan Valley will host an evening on February 16, showcasing the breathtaking dark skies of the region. Night photographer Dafydd Wyn Morgan will lead the festivities, beginning with a buffet and followed by an engaging talk on the art of capturing the celestial wonders through night photography - an unexpectedly simple endeavour.

Attendees will also have the chance to sample the essence of the Cambrian Mountains' night with Dà Mhìle Dark Skies Rum, indulge in Hathren Cambrian Mountains Stargazing Galaxy Collection Brownies and witness the exclusive unveiling of Cambrian Mountains Dark Skies-inspired artwork.
