TEENAGERS from a Powys youth club have produced a video intended to demonstrate the effects of hate crime.
Dyfed-Powys Police asked Ystradgynlais Youth Club to make the film to raise awareness of what hate crime is and how people can report it.
Youth club members Georgina Griffin, Catrin Rees, Megan Watkins, Jasmine Paulett, Lowri Pritchard and Nia Pritchard filmed, directed and acted in the short film which portrays a teenage girl being bullied because of her religion.
The club members had chosen the theme themselves and the film is now being used by Dyfed-Powys Police as part of the national Hate Crime Awareness week and is available to view on YouTube.
Councillor Graham Brown, Powys council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for youth service, said: "The Welsh Youth Hate Crime video that the young people have produced highlights the effects of hate crime and giving people confidence to report the crime. The video demonstrates their exceptional talents and delivers an important message through an innovative communication campaign."
