With all the bad news we have in the world I would like to tell you what happened to us on Tuesday, April 18.
My wife and I were on our way to Llandrindod from Erwood when we were about a mile from Howey. We heard a loud bang from under the car - I pulled up in a lay-by and had a look under the car but failed to see any damage.
A lady, seeing me, pulled up, in a smart suit, and got under the car to look. We were concerned about her clothes - “It’ll all come out in the wash,” she said.
We continued to Llandrindod, thinking we have hit a pot hole, and have the car checked for damage.
As we entered Howey we heard a big bang. With difficulty controlling the steering, we had to pull into a bus stop.
The wheel was down to the rim - the tyre had blown and we were leaving no room for the bus.
As I had a spare, I removed the wheel to find that the MacPherson front strut had broken, with a sharp edge cutting through the tyre,
A young man pulled up, using his phone, rang the rescue service for us, which was local and arrived promptly.
Four other vehicles stopped to offer help.
Mr wife and I would like to thank everyone for their help and kindness, to two OAPs.
